We are very understanding of the fact that many of our guests have no interest in sailing far from the shore. In-shore sailing is a fabulous experience amongst the fjords and islands of Northern Norway and Greenland, and for all of our Skiing, Mountain and Kayak trips, Polar Bear will never be far from a nice anchorage and a bit of shelter.
Having said that, Polar Bear has an appetite for oceans! In her past career she was raced around the globe on three occasions, three times through the infamous Southern Ocean and across the Atlantic like it were a swimming pool. Polar Bear is an ocean pedigree sailing yacht and as such, an Offshore Passage onboard can be a truly thrilling experience for those who take the challenge.
Our Offshore Sailing trips will involve consecutive days and nights at sea and we have to take whatever weather comes our way! You do not need to have sailing experience to do such a trip, you will get a lot of experience along the way.
As part of the crew each member will take part in the running of the yacht. A watch system will ensure everybody onboard gets equal periods of rest and work on-deck and the hours and days will seem to evaporate as we get closer to our destination.
Please understand that crew wishing to complete offshore passages must be in good health and of course 'sound of mind'!!!
