Skiing

The Lyngen Peninsular is only a short daysail from Tomso (North Norway). A remote and quiet mountain range with a world reputation for excellent ski-touring and incredibly beautiful mountains.

The high Lyngen Alps are serious mountains and although they are not particularly high altitude, they offer all of the dangers and challenges that you would expect in an Alpine environment.

There is no skiing infrastructure here, no network of lifts and restaurants to get lost in! These mountains are the very essence of ski mountaineering, requiring skill and judgement to travel safely.

The reward however is easy to see. You will find yourself surrounded by peaks and spires; skiing powder back to sea level. On some days you may meet another party, but most of the time your group will be alone. When the day is finished, a quick call to Polar Bear and we’ll pick you up… Not quite your average ski trip!

All levels of Experience…

Despite the obvious dangers associated with high level ski mountaineering in this region, there is an enormous amount of ski touring amongst the lower level mountains and forests which would cater for all levels of ski tourer. Huge sweeping valleys allow you to pass from one side of the peninsular to the other without becoming involved in the glacial networks and steep approach slopes.

Whatever your level of experience, we do recommend using a mountain guide in order to get the very best advice and leadership for your team. The Polar Front recommend a selection of UIAGM Mountain Guides with local knowledge, to help you get the most from your days in the mountains.
