The northern coast of Norway is famous for its mountain landscape, and there is something to suit every taste. Whether you are looking for remote rock climbs on perfect granite, or alpine style ridges and glaciers; or perhaps you just like hiking and enjoying the scenery at a different pace… you’ll find it all amongst the Lofoten Islands.
The Island of Ausvågoy is the largest of the Lofoten Islands and is home to more climbing venues than you could climb in a lifetime. To mention a few, Gandalf Wall and the Raftsund Mountains offer completely different climbing / hiking environments which are only a few miles apart.
Polar Bear will take you to the spots you wouldn’t ordinarily get the chance to visit given the inaccessibility of some of these islands.
Each day of your trip we will make decisions about the weather and group requirements so that you can get the most from your mountain experience.
We recommend ‘Climbing in the Magic Islands’ by Ed Webster as an excellent guidebook (climbing and hiking) to this region.
